K5RAV - The Clear Choice For Vice Director, West Gulf!

August 30th, 2007 Posted in SKYWARN, RACES, SPARCS

To:         All Fellow ARRL Members in Texas and Oklahoma

From:    K5REW,  ARES District Emergency Coordinator
West Gulf Division - South Texas Section, District 3 ARES

I’m asking you to vote for Dr. Dave Woolweaver, K5RAV to continue as Vice Director of the West Gulf Division in the ARRL  election this fall. There will be two candidates on the ballot in this election for Vice Director to be held in the coming weeks. Amazingly, both candidates are from the Rio Grande Valley and specifically, Harlingen Texas. But, that’s where any similarity ends.

Dr. Woolweaver has demonstrated a well established, charismatic and enthusiastic leadership through dedication and service to the League and all Hams far and wide. On the local and regional fronts K5RAV has shown decades of actual EmComm involvement by rolling up his sleeves and being active in the field in emergency communications outranking and out-classing his opponent to such a degree that there is absolutely no comparison if you ask me.  K5RAV really understands the importance of ham radio’s role in the emergency communications arena on behalf of the public interest and safety.

I think that Dr. Woolweaver is far more connected, aware and knowledgeable when it comes to the issues and responsibility that goes along with the job.  Of course there are skills one needs when it comes to building bridges of cooperation where needed, and good solid relationships promoting harmony in the ranks, and providing inclusivity in all ARRL activity and within such types of responsibility as ARES requires. The only person I see in this race that can raise his hand with demonstrated pride, faith and conviction would be Dr. David Woolweaver K5RAV.

Thanks to K5RAV’s local activities on behalf of all Hams in the Valley the District ARES group now has its own emergency powered repeater network in which to serve our customers like the City of Brownsville, Cameron County and our Texas Military Forces all of which have recently benefited from local ARES operations in practice and during activations for Hurricane Dean just recently. K5RAV has been there in support of every effort in front and behind the scenes.

K5RAV, has been leading the way by example, including his work in providing local  Winlink Telpac establishment. Dr. Woolweaver is the only candidate in my opinion who has demonstrated a genuine and most sincere commitment to the ARRL on a local as well as a regional basis, and the only one whom I feel will continue the legacy that we need to go forward in what it should take to be a Ham Operator in years to come.  In my best estimate, if the election were held today or even in the next 10 years within the ARRL community here in our eight county area, Dr. David Woolweaver would win with 95% of the ballots cast, if not more.

K5RAV is on a two-man team which we currently have in-place and doing a fantastic job.  He and the Director of the West Gulf Division, Coy Day N5OK are leading the West Gulf division serving on boards and committees and accomplishing the tasks that Texas and Oklahoma Hams are very proud of.  It is very important to all of us , and for the proper handling of upcoming issues such as BPL and other real threats to our spectrum now and in the future, that Dr. David Woolweaver and Coy Day N5OK be allowed to continue their leadership with your vote.

It is critical to the Amateur Radio Service as we know it, that we elect members who will not act divisively or practice duplicity. It is important that we send K5RAV  back to Newington as our chosen representative who has demonstrated his ability and who has done so well.  K5RAV and N5OK are the true statesmen of Ham Radio. Take a moment to look at Dr. Woolweaver’s accomplishments along with his current appointments and positions HERE AT K5RAV.COM . There is simply no reason to make any change and so I endorse and will vote for K5RAV and N5OK to continue their success at the ARRL.  The K5RAV/N5OK Woolweaver/Day ticket is a slam-dunk for the locals here who are more familiar with the issues and the candidates.  Save yourself time and take my advice. Vote for the right choice. Vote for Dr. Dave Woolweaver, K5RAV to continue as Vice Director of the West Gulf division of the ARRL.
